Why Come To Counselling?

Life can sometimes present challenges and stress, which is a natural part of being human. However, for many people, these challenges escalate into overwhelming feelings that lead to a loss of hope and direction.

When faced with stress, anxiety, or uncertainty, emotional difficulties may arise, creating an inner turmoil that affects your everyday life. The way you think and see the world alters and everyday becomes a challenge.

This sense of free-falling and lack of control is a common experience.

Feeling unable to cope can be frightening, often accompanied by a growing sense of helplessness and increasing isolation.

For some, counselling offers a safe space to unload their burdens and gain clarity. For others, taking time and space to process their experiences of past or present is essential.

No matter what you are facing, you do not have to face your struggles alone or in silence. Counselling provides an opportunity to focus on your well-being, explore your concerns, and achieve a deeper understanding of yourself.

Counselling is a time to focus and gain a deeper insight of yourself, to become clearer on what is affecting you and why.

Enabling you to see different perspectives and possible root causes of your distress or difficulties.

With awareness comes the opportunity to make changes. You can then take steps that will help you feel less stressed, calmer and more at ease with yourself and the world around you.

Because I believe that as you progress with your counselling, your self-awareness will increase, you have the opportunity to see yourself and your world with more clarity.

You can reassess what is important to you, if your beliefs, valves, and thought processes are in line with who you really are. or want to be. This gives you a starting place to make positive changes that can improve your self-esteem and overall happiness

How can Counselling help you?

As we work together, I will support you all the way to make sense of your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. I offer compassion and connection in our therapeutic relationship where you will feel seen, heard, understood, validated, and respected for who you are.  We can work together to achieve any goals you may have at a pace that is right for you. You will never be under any pressure to disclose anything you do not wish to do so.

Because this can be powering and validating, it can be the starting point for you to find and build your inner strengths and resources which lead to a sense of hope and possibility for the future.

Unravelling any confusion or uncertainty you are feeling helps you to reflect and process complicated or difficult emotions, anger, sadness or guilt.  I will encourage and support you as you find your way through, to understand yourself more clearly.  This may involve finding strategies to cope with stress or anxiety, or ways of managing difficult emotions, leaving you feeling more in control, with a calmer and relaxed outlook.

Because as you gain self-awareness of how your thoughts and feelings are potentially influencing you, recognising and altering limiting beliefs or behaviours becomes a possibility. You can find what is important to you and how you would like to live your life. You can learn new ways of relating and behaving. Because this can lead to a sense of empowerment, your self-confidence and self-worth can increase. Life becomes less of a uphill struggle and more fulfilling.

Talking freely and openly without fear of ever being judged or criticised releases stress and tension, enabling you to think and understand yourself more clearly, to see different perspectives and gain a deeper understanding of yourself. This enables you to work out what is best for you, to find solutions which instils hope, self-confidence, and helps to grow self-acceptance. Enabling you to take steps to become happier, more fulfilled with an overall improved sense of wellbeing.

I can support you to make sense of and process your past experiences. To see how your life and present situations may have been influenced by your past. Healing from past wounds enables you to live more fully in the present, more at peace with yourself and the world around you.  It helps to build a sense of stability, self-worth and self compassion which can change your mindset and move you into a happier and more content way of living.
